Celebrating 25 Years
This month we celebrated our 25th Birthday! It’s hard to believe that it was 25 years ago that we opened Picklemouse Corner and started retailing patchwork and quilting supplies from our one small room in our country cottage in Leura Village in the Blue Mountains. To learn exactly how Picklemouse Corner came to be, make sure you read our previous blog article The Tale Behind the Mouse.
Picklemouse Corner has become so much more (both literally and metaphorically) than Pam Davis (aka Pammy Picklemouse) and a little corner. Who would have known when we opened our doors we would grow to become not only a one stop shop for all your patchwork and quilting needs, but also the perfect meeting ground for all sewing enthusiasts. As well as our physical store we also now have an online presence with our Facebook and Instagram pages and our online shop, which has allowed us to connect with so many more crafty souls across Australia and now the globe! We’ve made so many stitching friends throughout our 25 years of business (which equates to hundreds of thousands of hours of chatting in person and on the phone and a similar number of cups of tea). So, for our friends and followers far and wide, we have organised a special birthday giveaway to celebrate the big occasion. Make sure you visit our Instagram page over the weekend for your chance to win $325 worth of Jinny Beyer fabrics kindly donated by Dayview Textiles.
Even though we might be a good 25 years older than when we first embarked on our little mouse journey we are still as excited as ever about the products we continue to create, all with our unique Picklemouse flare. No project is possible without the creative efforts of our staff who collectively make one incredible team -Team Picklemouse. We are so grateful for the team’s energy, humour, dedication, creativity and can do attitude. Without their skills and loyalty, Picklemouse Corner would not have survived 25 years in business especially throughout the challenges presented in 2020, which certainly had our little mouse family pivoting in ways we never thought possible!
With Covid now somewhat suppressed, we are thrilled to announce that we will be returning to exhibitions. Our first appearance in 2021 will be at the Sydney Craft and Quilt Fair from the 30th June to the 4th July at the new location of Sydney Showground, Homebush. To all our fair friends who we haven’t had the opportunity to meet with for so long, we look forward to catching up at our stand D25! For a snapshot of what we will have on offer at the Fair visit our exhibitor page at www.craftfair.com.au. At the show you will have the first opportunity to purchase our new Jardin De Fleurs quilt kit. With the fabrics proving so popular on Facebook and Instagram this is sure to be a hit. We can’t wait to hear your thoughts!
Jardin De Fleurs aren’t the only floral fabrics popular this season. Still elegant with a bolder colour scheme are our Australian Botanicals one of the many Australiana fabrics available online and instore. These are perfect to give any quilt an Australian Flavour or for making that special gift for patriotic friends and family.
Finally we are rapidly becoming the patchwork destination for flannel fabrics. We have just received a new flannel shipment instore. These will be available for you online shortly but if you can’t wait, why not plan a weekend to the Blue Mountains and stock up on fabric for all those winter projects! We promise you won’t be disappointed with our new range and choices. We can’t wait to meet or see you again soon.
